Hello fellow Jotters,
This is my first Jot so without much ado, here goes....Among other things, I run a website called www.whatsnewonthenet.com. As one of the guys involved in the first dotcom boom way back in the late '90s, I hold the firm belief that the Internet is here to stay; that it is the Medium and the Media of the future. With the unbridled growth of the Web World, I suddenly woke up to the fact that the Net is no longer just an accessory to the 'Real World' we live. In the last decade, especially so with the advent of social sites like Second Life, and now Facebook, Cyberspace is now a whole new world with its own players, rules and compulsions. That is what drove me to start my website. Essentially, if you have to compare it to a 'Real World' instrument, it is like a newspaper, magazine, radio and TV channel rolled in one, but catering only to the daily developments on the Internet. Pardon me if this 1st Jot sounds like a PR exercise but I would just like everyone out there to know that this platform exists and all of you can take advantage of it. We of course do not speak geek. Our site is only about “software”, we have left all the hardcore tech stuff to our esteemed online counterparts. Keep It Simple is our motto.
I shall stop here to get back to the drawing board. As they would say in the ‘Real World’ , “Watch this space” (pun intended).
But before I go, I would like to end this post with a question - Do you think the Net will become the sole Medium and Media of the future as it has all the abilities of old-world media like Print and TV, rolled in one?
Do reply.
